Pregnancy: Week 1

You missed your period? Are you pregnant?

Doctors start to count pregnancy weeks from the first day of your last period. We do not know when fertilization happened. It might have happened on any day of your menstrual cycle. Your uterus will be getting ready to receive the egg. The uterus lining builds up and thickens to make the egg implantation easy. Usually fertilization happens 12 to 24 hours after releasing the ovum.

If you are thinking of getting pregnant, consult your doctor and start healthy habits. Start taking Vitamins and folic acid. You can start also documenting your pregnancy. It will be also an important phase for your partner.
